Mexico: The Solar Future Project

Increasing energy capacity and sustainability.

UGT Renewables is partnering with the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) to develop the Solar Future Project. By diversifying and creating a more flexible power system, Mexico will increase energy capacity and sustainable development, all while reducing dependence on hydrocarbon imports and fuel price spikes.

Unleashing Mexico’s solar generation potential.

The first phase of the Solar Future Project includes 5000 MWDC PV solar modules distributed across several solar power plants. Installed on single-axis trackers, these modules will provide increased generation and revenue. A 1000 MW / 2000 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), to be distributed proportionally as an integral part of solar PV power plants, will provide balancing and other system services.

Creating in-house expertise within CFE.

In addition to arranging financing and organizing engineering, procurement and construction, UGT Renewables is arranging operations and maintenance (O&M) training for CFE. This knowledge sharing will allow CFE to increase their capacity for providing balancing and ancillary services, ensuring that the improved quality and reliability of electric power supply from the Solar Future Project is only the beginning.
